Engineered to endure. Designed to consume less.
In industrial plants, the 2-way valve is no longer an “accessory” component. It is a critical point for reliability, operational continuity, and energy efficiency.
SMC JSX valves were developed precisely to meet these needs: operating in harsh conditions, reducing energy consumption, and simplifying integration and maintenance—without compromising performance.
What are JSX valves
The JSX series is a range of 2-way (2-port) solenoid valves, available in direct-acting or pilot-operated versions, designed to control:
- air
- water
- oil
- vacuum
- steam (dedicated versions)
Standard direct-acting versions support flow rates of up to approximately 25 l/min with water, with orifice sizes from 1.6 to 7.1 mm and port sizes from 1/8” to 3/8”, making them ideal for compact, distributed process applications.
The technical core of JSX valves
Materials and environmental protection
- Stainless steel body and coil cover
- Protection rating up to IP67 (IP65 for versions with DIN connector)
- High resistance to corrosion, splashing, humidity, and weather exposure
- Compliance with CE, UL, and NEMA 4X (on selected versions)
A combination designed for demanding industrial environments, both indoor and outdoor.
Energy efficiency and coil performance
The new JSX coil technology delivers concrete and measurable benefits:
- Typical power consumption: 4 W (DC)
- Up to 14% reduction in energy consumption compared to the previous generation
- 10% increase in magnetic force, ensuring more stable switching
- Lower heat generation and longer service life
Result: less energy, less thermal stress, greater reliability.
Simplified installation
- 360° rotatable coil
- 360° adjustable cable entry
Details that make a real difference in the field: faster wiring, greater layout flexibility, and fewer compromises in confined spaces.
Real application benefits
- Higher reliability in humid and aggressive environments
thanks to stainless steel construction and IP67 protection - Reduced noise and vibration
through internal stoppers and optimized construction - Extended mechanical service life and fewer corrective interventions
- Wide selection of sealing materials
(NBR, FKM, EPDM) for different fluids and temperature ranges
Main series variants
The JSX platform is available in multiple families to address specific application requirements:
- JSX standard – air, water, oil | N.C. / N.O.
- JSXU – high flow rate and energy saving
- JSXV – vacuum applications
- JSXH – high-pressure applications
- JSXS – steam
- JSXM – modular version for FRL unit mounting
- JSXD / JSXP – pilot-operated and high-flow steam versions
One single design philosophy, covering a wide range of applications.

The benefits, seen from the right perspective
For OEMs
- Standardization: a single family for multiple fluids and operating conditions
- Fewer part numbers, reduced bill-of-materials complexity
- High reliability → fewer field claims, more robust machines over time
For system integrators
- Reduced footprint
(−25% volume, −30% weight compared to previous solutions) - Ideal for compact panels, skids, and retrofit projects
- Rotatable coil and cable entry = fewer man-hours for wiring and plant modifications
For maintenance teams
- IP67 protection and stainless steel construction = fewer unplanned interventions
- Reduced acoustic “buzz” → improved operating comfort
- Predictable maintenance: simple checks, clear service intervals, fewer surprises
For end users
- −14% energy consumption at equal performance
- Greater operational continuity in harsh environments
- Less downtime, lower operating costs, greater production stability
