RSLogix™ 5 programming software, which has been the benchmark in PLC-5® control systems for years, will be officially discontinued by Rockwell Automation on December 31, 2025.
This marks the end of an important chapter in industrial automation, but at the same time opens a new phase that brings with it more advanced, faster, and safer tools.
An unavoidable transition
The decision to discontinue the development and sale of new RSLogix 5 activations is part of a technological evolution that began with the discontinuation of PLC-5 in 2017.
For users, this means:
- Inability to purchase new licenses after the end of 2025,
- no updates for future operating systems,
- limited technical support over time.
The new generation: Logix® and Studio 5000
Today, Rockwell Automation offers the Logix® family and Studio 5000 Logix Designer® and FactoryTalk® Design Studio™ software as its reference platform.
These environments offer:
- Continuously growing application libraries,
- advanced design tools with artificial intelligence support,
- automated testing functions to reduce errors and downtime,
- a development experience designed for the future of the industry.
BSA Technology Support
For those still using RSLogix™ 5, the challenge is to plan an effective migration that ensures continuity for the plants and maximizes the potential of the new platforms.
The BSA Technology team supports companies in:
- analyze existing architectures,
- identify the most suitable migration path,
- provide technical and training support,
- accompany the transition to Logix solutions.
