What are the famous MMA – Manually and mechanically actuated – valves? We can already understand what they are from their name, but we would like to get into more details on the practical applications!
The mechanically actuated valves are signal valves, while the manually actuated valves are used for special functions such as locking and closing security doors.
Here there the main types:
VMEF= mechanically actuated
- Stem valves
- Roller lever valves
- Revolving lever valves
VHEM = manually actuated
- Selector valves
- Finger lever valves
- Push-button valves
- Activate / deactivate lever valves
3 concrete examples of the Festo valves applications:
– AGRICULTURE: when an edge of a container is moved by an animal, a certain amount of food comes out of it.
– CONVEYOR BELTS: The conveyor belt system uses mechanical valves as switches when the loader is full.
– FAST SYSTEMS: rotary table for screwing bottle caps.
Mechanical actuated valves need to adjust the switching point. In order to simplify this operation Festo created a mounting plate with adjustment notches. All levers use the same parts but the hinge position varies from 3/2 to 5/2.
