1 – What are motion sensors?
Motion sensors detect the movement of people in a certain area where they are installed, thus creating not visible barriers that react to the passage of the person, activating an alarm or blocking the activity of the moving machinery.
2 – How do Inxpect detection sensors work?
Imagine that an operator enters a dangerous area. The sensor detects its movement and increases its sensitivity, in order to capture even the most imperceptible movements (think at the breathing) and prevent a dangerous restart of the machinery.
As explained by the company, thanks to the application “ Inspect Safety”: “it is possible to configure the alarm and pre-alarm zones in 3D using different angles of the sensor beam, to create optimal coverage of the danger zone, which will then be validated from the same software once the system has been physically installed “. In short, the system guarantees a good configuration flexibility.
Here there are some examples of applications: anti-collision system for bridge cranes, prevention of robot workcell restart, prevention of access to loading areas with independent motion systems.
The system is composed of a controller and it can be connected to up to 6 motion sensors.
3 – Why should you choose this radar motion sensor?
Inxpect’s radar sensor uses owners algorithms that detect movement to monitor operators or machinery in a 3D coverage area. Why choose this sensor? The answer is very simple. Because the Inxpect sensor has two main safety functions integrated in a single system. Let’s see them together.
Access protection: the system monitors the dangerous area. The sensitivity of the sensor is currently lower, the safety relays are closed and static objects are automatically excluded when there is the monitoring activity. The detection range is configurable (110 ° / 30 ° or 50 ° / 15 °).
Restart prevention: during this process the LBK system monitors the area of interest to detect all micro-movements. The safety relays are opened, the sensor sensitivity is very high and static objects are excluded from monitoring. To be reliable, the restart mechanism takes 10 seconds.
The technology used by these motion sensors has more robust features than other technologies and guarantees an application both indoor and outdoor. In fact, radar technology also detects in bad environmental conditions, such as smoke, dust, water or scraps generated by production processes.
