They have some important features such as monitoring and diagnostics, the possibility of configuring the rapidity, the output type, the implementation of the LAN and management of redundant paths, in addition to the basic functions of the Unmenaged Switches. Today production activity requires both Managed and Unmanaged Switches and integrates individual machines into a higher level network, determining the need of increasing Ethernet network, paying more attention to network security, more diagnostics and short time plants restoration.<\/p>\n<p>So why is the use of\u00a0<strong>smart switches<\/strong>\u00a0essential? Because they manage configuration and monitoration of the machine network. Thanks to the\u00a0<strong>Multicast filters<\/strong>\u00a0it will be possible to reduce the data load in the network, maintaining communication even in case of unwanted loops or equipment failures.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand a new technology has been introduced for the industrial wireless network:<strong>\u00a0MIMO technology<\/strong>\u00a0(multiple input multiple output). It is more reliable and guarantees more network-infrastructure coverage.
