INXPECT, a company based in Brescia (Italy), designed a unique approach to radar design in order to bring first-generation products to the current market.<\/p>\n<p>The Inxpect sensors are based on smart\u00a0<strong>FMCW radar<\/strong>\u00a0that cores working in the\u00a0<strong>ISM 24GHz band<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This technology allows excellent\u00a0<strong>motion tracking,<\/strong>\u00a0even in bad conditions, such as darkness, fog, smoke and dust, also withstanding splashes and processing residues. The discrimination of the moving target is based on mass and behavior, ensuring a precise determination of speed and reaction of the target!<\/p>\n<p>How can we be sure of the<strong>\u00a0security<\/strong>\u00a0of this approach?<br \/>\nWe found two elements to support this thesis:<br \/>\n-dedicated, industry standard crypto co-processor in every communication board (Secure key storage and real time asymmetric cryptography);<br \/>\n-intrinsic security of radar.<\/p>\n<p>The first ever, radar-based, volumetric safety barrier is the\u00a0<strong>LBK system<\/strong>, Inxpect\u2019s core business.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What is it practically? We\u2019ll explain it in a few words.<\/p>\n<p>LBK system is an innovative approach based on a radar-based motion sensor device that, together with the appropriate LBK Control unit, ensures that automated machines or robots enter in safe mode when operators enter or are present in a dangerous area. The control unit can monitor up to six smart motion sensors, realyzing an active protection system, SIL2, in accordance with IEC 61508. One of the main features of this technology is the ability to give pre-alarms in order to avoid the sudden stop of the machinery.
