The UL and CSA certifications attest the conformity of the products to the US and CANADIAN safety requirements. The mark indicates that some samples of the products have been tested by recognized laboratories, the NRTL - Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory - to guarantee compliance with the product standards for the North American and Canadian markets (ANSI standard, UL standard, CSA standard, ASTM, NFPA) and the minimum security requirements set by these countries. Each NRTL owns a proprietary trademark (eg ETL, CSA and UL) which demonstrates the compliance with the minimum requirements set by national safety standards. According to UL / CSA regulations, all certified products were found to be suitable to the standards defined by the certificate in relation to their potential fire, electric shock, mechanical hazards and all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations applicable.
The machine / product manufacturer must carry out an exhaustive analysis of the machine's technical risks: analysis of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic risks. Then he will consider the use and the applications, where is the destination of the product, the possible incorrect uses and the residues risks. The latters must be reported as monition on the machine and in the related documents.
Machinery destined to the USA must comply with the requirements indicated by the American UL 508-A standard which provides the safety standards relating to the construction of electrical panels intended for the American market. On the other side to reach the CANADIAN market, the CSA certification of the products is guided by the CSA 22-2 N ° 14 regulation.
First of all it is necessary to carry out a regulatory framework of the products to be certified. It is important to remember that, unlike the European Directives, the same product can refer to two different regulations depending on its use.
The second step concerns the fulfillment of a document of preliminary technical analysis. The aim of this operation is to assess the method of the product manufacturing and the design, according to the standards.
At this point it is possible to request the ETL certification, according to the chosen methods. In order to request the certification you need to send a sample of the product to a recognized laboratory. Here they will start a series of tests aimed to verify and guarantee the compliance of the product to OSHA and ANSI standards.
Quick access to the global market
Request of a single product safety certification for all target markets using laboratory test packages
Ability to differentiate your company in a highly competitive market
It is important to verify the quality and safety of products, processes and systems, attesting their compliance with UL/CSA regulations, in line with the North American and Canadian market. Today Technology BSA is certifier of electrical equipment for the assembly of the automation panels (Industrial Control Panel) with specific reference to the Field Evaluation standard for the United States and SPE 100 for Canada. Unlike “Field Evaluetion”, for Canadian market the inspection can be carried out previously in Italy as well as on site.
